One person lost his life yesterday in a traffic accident that occurred on the highway 'Ibrahim Rugova'.

According to initial reports, the victim died at the scene, after being hit by a moving van while it was entering the car.

A Kosovar male driver has been arrested, after he hit the Kosovar male victim with a vehicle, who had stopped the car in the emergency lane and got out of the car. Consequently, the victim died at the scene. By decision of the prosecutor, the suspect was taken into custody, while the lifeless body of the victim was sent to IML for autopsy.

But not only that. Tall 24 last hours nationwide were caused over 50 traffic accidents, and many of them with injured persons.

Loss of lives, bodily injuries and property damage are caused almost daily through our streets.

In a response given to lajmi.net by the Kosovo Police it was announced that in the period January-May 2021 have happened 37 fatal accidents where they lost their lives 42 person.

During the same time they were also registered 2 thousand e 753 accidents with injuries, while they were 5 thousand e 419 persons who suffered bodily injuries.

"Accidents with damage during this period of time were 4 thousand 855 ”, it is further stated in the police response.

In total within this five-month period were 5 thousand e 645 traffic accidents.

There were a large number of accidents in June, and some of them even led to the loss of lives.

The Kosovo Police have stated for lajmi.net that in addition to police activities in this regard, It has been continuously appealed to all traffic participants to respect the road traffic signs and to adapt to the road and atmospheric conditions..

"One of the primary objectives for the Kosovo Police is to provide road safety for traffic participants and prevent accidents, therefore according to operational planning, increased activities are foreseen in order to prevent accidents and increase traffic safety ", was further stated by KP.

Recently, within the Kosovo Police, the number of police officers has increased, who have dealt closely with the issue of accidents, as well as the close observation of traffic violations..
