Meet the next two doctors, which are voluntarily contributing to the vaccination of the Polog region

It is universally recognized that women represent the majority of health care workers (READY 70%). Therefore, I believe you will not be surprised that ? of this group of young people, students of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, are exactly the girls, respectively 15 daughter and 7 BOYS. Although the call, to contribute voluntarily to the process of vaccination of the population of Polog, by the Dean of the University, came for only ten students, upon hearing the call for application they answered in full 22 such. The process in question works like this: a set of more or less 10 coordinate with each other in two shifts so that the vaccination center is not left without volunteers by the hour 8 of morning until 8 of the evening. Their mission is related to the progress of the preliminary phase, thus by collecting data and determining the eligibility to receive vaccination.

One of the volunteers in question is Ajla Xhemaili who is happy to be entrusted with such a crucial responsibility for the health of the Polog area.

"We are having a great time with colleagues and the atmosphere is dynamic. We initially thought that there would be no influx but from the first days there has been a great interest in getting vaccinated. It is worth noting the fact that there is a variety of age groups, but among them old age is the one which has more confidence in the health system. While young ages, who are even more exposed to fake news, they are the most skeptical age group that needs more clarification and information about vaccination. ” says Ajla.

Even in the past, Ajla has been engaged with local youth initiatives and organizations which promote youth participation at local and national level. One of these initiatives is the Medical Students Organization in Tetovo (Macesonian Medical Student’s Association) to which she has been a member for a year and has contributed in terms of organizing sewing workshops in the field of surgery. While this year she is the chair of the Public Health Committee, committee which has been responsible for organizing several workshops related to the month of endometriosis, also conducted workshops for Covid19 and it is expected these days to organize an activity related to the International Tobacco Awareness Day.

Another volunteer who joined the initiative is Sabiha Rushiti, students to become future doctors. Sabiha, also from Gostivar, has previously engaged in the field of self-development by participating in the Basic Course for Positive Psychotherapy, thus wanting to combine her knowledge in the field of mental health with her future profession in the field of general physical health. Dimensions that are closely related to each other according to the philosophy "a healthy body in a healthy mind".

Regarding the vaccination initiative, she says that “I am doing very well in vaccination, especially in dealing with patients. Although it is the first time for me, I did not have any difficulties. For me, it is a pleasure I can say even a privilege to be found among students who give effort in overcoming this condition. We are also very well received by all age groups. To be honest, it seems that most people are not afraid at all and from their statements it seems that they came voluntarily, not instigated by the employer or any institution to which they belong. " Sabiha is enthusiastic about the vaccination process.

so, these girls are engaged in one more attempt to break the stereotype towards medical students who are thought to be focused only on studies, that they spend their entire student life just on books and that they do not have a social life, let then also engage in volunteering. They are role models and role models, not only for the future generations of the medical branch but for all the youth of the country contributing from their time to work for free so that the whole country returns to the long-awaited "normalcy".
