Turkish language elective subject in Albanian schools, Albanian will be taught in Turkey
Turkish language has been established as an elective subject in Albanian schools.
This decision was announced by the agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and the Government of Turkey.
While in the Official Gazette is published the agreement between the two countries which provides for the introduction of the Turkish language in Albanian schools as a subject of a foreign language with free choice, for the purpose of a Turkish language pilot program.
Referring to the agreement, the two countries will cooperate in the exchange of pupils and students, offering reciprocal scholarships; for Albanian students in Turkey and for Turkish students in Albania. The same practice will be followed with the teaching staff. As well, the agreement stipulates that the parties will encourage the teaching and learning of the official language of the other party, as well as the literature and culture of the other party, within their education system.
In Article 3. long 2, also sanctions the introduction of the Turkish language in schools. At this point it is clearly stated that the parties will encourage the teaching and learning of the official language of the other party, as well as the literature and culture of the other party, within their education system, reports ABC News.
