The last lecture of Muhammad s.a.v.s.
Farewell sermon
O people, listen to what I have to say, I do not know if I will meet you in this country after this year!
O people, fear God and obey him, become humane and fair to yourself and others. This is the day of sacrifice in the name of Allah. Really your blood, your honor and your wealth are sacred to you, until you meet your Creator, as holy is this day in this month and in this place.
save, respect and honor the value of personality and human dignity.
Man is a great deed of Allah and woe to him, who despises the honor and dignity of the work of Allah.
O people, Inevitably, you will return to Allah, the Everlasting, and He will call you to account for what you used to do..
O besimdrejtë, know that the time of ignorance and bad traditions is over, which have brought so much misfortune to the human race. I have shown you the way of salvation, which must be removed.
Save the items given to you in the trust as yours and return them faithfully and on time to the one who belongs to.
Blood feud is forbidden. All such accusations, which derive from the time of ignorance, anulohen. The first charge which is dismissed is the blood feud of my uncle Ibn Abdul-mutalib, who was innocently killed by people from the Hudhayl tribe. Let this blood feud be forgotten and let all others in the future be forgiven.
Usury and interest are prohibited. The lender should take from the borrower only what he has actually lent to him. The first loans subject to this decision are the loans of my uncle Abbas, who has had quite a few debtors.
O besimdrejtë, forgive the interest of the debtors! Listen to my advice and your wealth will increase, for it remains for you the trade and honest work. If you do not, know that you have incurred wrath against Allah and His Messenger. If your debtor is in trouble, extend the payment deadline, WHEREAS, if you are able to forgive the debt, then this is even better for you.
O besimdrejtë! O people! Fear the Day, which will really come, when you will all appear before Allah, Single Supreme Judges, (by day) in which absolute justice awaits you!
When you owe it to yourself to pay off the debt, pay on time, and when you make the deal do it in writing, accurately and faithfully state the payment deadline…
O you who will die! Love and obey the Lord, The Creator of matter and what is spiritual, Who created man and woman, from which the whole human race developed!
Fear Allah, under assistance, the rest and mercy of Whom we are all instructed! We are mortal and every moment we are as close as possible to death and meeting Him, with Allah the Eternal, The Right Judge.
Respect kinship. Faithfully fulfill your duties and responsibilities, which exist between husband and wife as well as between parents and children!
Paradise is under the feet of the mother.
Beware of prostitution, adultery and jealousy. Prostitution and adultery are grave sins, while jealousy leads to disunity in marriage.
Marry them, which you love, and when GOD wills to unite you, then respect, love and live in love and harmony.
O husband, treat your wives with much kindness and love!
O besimdrejtë, get away from clutter and slander!
Cursed be those who slander honest women in both worlds! Those who accuse honest women of adultery or immorality, and they cannot bring to him four credible witnesses, sentence to eighty strokes (chopsticks) and never trust me again, for they are filthy and wicked!
If you feel that your love for your wives has weakened, do not rush (in divorce), but think well, for Allah guides you to the paths of new and great destiny through this trial, with whom he wishes to congratulate you. Do not seek a divorce without reasonable cause, for of all that Allah hath permitted, mostly hates divorce. Your wives have surrendered to you in the faith of God, so respect it oh righteous, that trust of God!
O people, today the accursed Devil is desperate, because it has suffered losses and can no longer affect you. STILL, always be careful that the accursed one does not mislead you even in the smallest things!
O besimdrejtë, when you assign and divide the inheritance among yourself, be righteous and abide by the Book of God. Preserve the property of minors, of the disabled and the foolish.
God has given everyone their right, therefore there is no need to leave a will to the heirs, while a third of the property cannot be left as a will.
The child belongs to him, in whose bed he was born.
Who claims to belong to someone other than the parent, it will be cursed by God.
It is not permissible for a woman to give anything from her husband's property without his permission.
The debt must be paid, while the borrowed item must be returned. The gift must be returned with the gift. Who enters the bail for someone, is liable for bail.
Treat slaves and servants humanely. Feed them as if you were feeding yourself, and wear them as you dress yourself. You must not harm or abuse them. They are people too, they too are servants of the Lord.
O besimdrejtë, know and remember that all Muslims are brothers. You are completely equal in rights and duties. Arabia has no advantage over non-Arabs, and this also applies to the black to the red and to the red to the black, except in piety. You are all descendants of Adam, while Adam is of earthly descent.
O Muslims, TAKE CARE, love and help one another! You must not offend each other, nor rob one another of anything. This is a grave sin. Take only what is willingly given to you! Respect the inviolability of your possessions as long as they are in the spirit of God's laws.
Let Islam and the general interest be upon you and your interest! Dedicate your life to Islam and in doing work for Islam do your best.
Never violate someone's right and honor! Do not force yourself! Remember that mercy is one of the foundations of Islam.
O people, listen to what I tell you and remember well! I leave you the Book of God, the Qur'an, to whom if you adhere, It will always protect you from going astray, the path of righteousness and Truth. The Qur'an is a clear and sacred book, The true deed of Allah and His word, in the authenticity of which there is no doubt.
You have my whole life before you, my words and deeds. Everything I have said and done I have tried to be in full accordance with the commands of Allah.
You really will not go wrong, as long as you adhere to the Qur’an (The Book of God) and Sunnah (my tradition).
O people, after me there will come no other Messenger from God, and after you the people will have no Prophet! For, do ibadat (believe and worship) Mr.; pray five prayers at a time; fast the month of Ramadan; give zakat wholeheartedly and contentedly and perform Hajj, as well as carry out the orders of your rulers! Thus will you enter the Garden of your Lord![1]
O besimdrejtë, always speak the pure truth. Let hatred never lead you astray. Justice is the sister of piety. Fear Allah, that He sees your actions!
O people, you heard my message, so insert it into your heart and (practical) in your life!
All who hear my words, let them convey to those who have not heard them, that it happens that they (others) understand them better.
Oh my God, did I fulfill the task and mission entrusted to me?
About one hundred and forty thousand pilgrims cheered in unison:
O Messenger of God, you fulfilled your mission faithfully, and you communicated to us what the Lord commanded you…
Then Muhammad was told: O Zot, witness! O Zot, witness! O Zot, witness!
On that day a verse was revealed to him from God Almighty:
“Today I have perfected your religion for you, I fulfilled my gift to you, and I am pleased that Islam is your religion.” (Maide-3)
